Seminar on Progressive farming & farmer the foundation of development.
Shri Venkateshwara University/VGI Meerut in collaboration with Bhartiya Kisan Union (Meerut Division) organized a 1 day seminar on Progressive farming & farmer the foundation of development.
In the seminar leading agriculture scientists, environmentalists,
researchers & educationists discussed ways to augment farmer’s income &
commended their role in the nation’s development.
They compared the farmer to God & discussed ways for his upliftment.
Dr Sudhir Giri Chairman Venkateshwara Group, DM Balkrishan Tripathi Chief
Guest Padamshree Mr Bharat Bhushan Tyagi, Chief Speaker Dinesh Kulkarni &
the Pro-chancellor Dr Rajiv Tyagi inaugurated the seminar by lighting a lamp to
Goddess Saraswati.
CDO Chandrashekhar Shukla, & the Provincial GS Dr Kuldeep Singh assisted
them in the inauguration ceremony.
Dr Sudhir Giri announced that from next January for the benefit of farmers
Shri Venkateshwara University will start a soil testing lab.
Mr Balkrishan Tripathi expressed that through organic manure & by
adopting advanced farming techniques, we plan to double farmer’s income by
2025.
In his address, Mr Bharat Bhushan Tyagi asserted unless we eradicate the
share of middlemen & the government’s crop insurance scheme, PM’s
irrigation scheme & the soil testing scheme are not implemented, the
upliftment of the farmer cannot happen.
While Dr Dinesh Kulkarni stated that immediately after natural calamities
like drought, floods & hailstorm farmers should receive compensation.
The Government should direct banks & insurance co. to make quick
payments & we should encourage farmers to abandon traditional farming &
adopt progressive & organic farming techniques.
If we do this, India can become a world leader.
Dr Rajiv Tyagi, Mr Chandrashekhar Shukla, Dr Kuldeep Kumar & the VC Dr
Rakesh Yadav also addressed the seminar.
Later, we honored 250 progressive farmers by gifting them a shawl &
memento.
We also released a book Dharti Ka Kisan written by Dr Mahesh Whites
highlighting ways to augment farmer’s income.
The chief attraction was an exhibition showcasing organic manure, seeds
& products that was conceptualized by the UP agriculture department.
Those present included the Program coordinator Dr Rajesh Singh, & Dr C.
P. Kushwaha, Dr Anil Jaiswal, Dr S N Sahoo, Dr Varsha Yadav, Dr Lakshmi Kant,
Dr Mata Prasad, & Dr Ram Kumar.
Noticeable with their presence were the Meerut campus director Dr Pratap
Singh, Alka Singh, Dr Vikas Dubey, Dr Khatoon, Dr Ankit Thakur, Arun Goswami,
Mr Kaushal Kumar & Dr Vivek Sachan.
Also present were Dr Yogeshwar Sharma, Dr Vipin Kumar, Sanjiv Rai, L P Singh
Pritpal & the Media In charge, Mr. Vishwas Rana among others.
